Breaking News: New Moon

1. One of the most anticipated casting decisions (for me and my mom, anyway) has been made: Aro will be played by Michael Sheen, who played Tony Blair in "The Queen" and Frost in "Frost Nixon." I approve.

2. A new poster for New Moon has been released:

Down, Robin. I shall have mine framed.

  2. I remember the actor you are referring to. At first I wanted to say, HUH? But then I realized I have been picturing Aro as a very old man, and he wouldn't appear to be all that old.

  3. I'm clueless enough about Hollywood that I can't really comment on Michael Sheen as Aro. I'll trust you guys :)

I read somewhere that that poster was a fake, put together by some random person on LiveJournal, and that it's not even Rob! It was weeks ago that I read it, though, and I can't guarantee that my information isn't fake. I do love the poster, though, real or not!

  4. and here I awas thinking about ordering the lifestyle cut-out cardboard Robert- that poster is sizzling.

And Joanna, I kept seeing him as older as well.

  5. I imagine him older as well. If not older, then sort of frail looking. Bella talks about how his skin seems nearly transparent. I guess we'll have to see that make up artists do with it.

  6. I also see him as incredibly ancient, but I think that will be done through makeup. If Aro was in his 40's or so when he was turned, they would have to convey his "age" through the skin and filmy eyes. I think Sheen is a fantastic actor, though, so I really can't wait to see what he does with the role.

  7. I think the issue with age is that, even if Aro was only 30 when he was changed, 30 was a whole heck of a lot older back then. So even if he's not that old chronologically, he would most likely look old to us, as modern viewers. Then again, the whole vampirism thing would make up for a lot of the aging, I'd imagine. I have a hard time imagining vampires as anything but under 30 or over 65 :P
