Some Food for Casting Thought

Here are some of the rumored "front runners" I've found for the parts of Seth and Leah. We can assume that they would be in both Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.

For Leah:

This is Q'orianka Kilcher. She played Pocahontas in that Colin Farrell movie a few years back. Her resume on IDMB is very impressive.

This is Sage Galesi. I saw her on the TNT miniseries Into the West, where she briefly played Margaret Light Shines. (If you haven't seen Into the West, I really enjoyed it.) It looks to me like she's got Leah's face: it's beautiful, but you can see the potential for meanness there.

For the role of Seth:

This is Tyler Posey, a young but experienced actor. I think he has a very sweet face, and has that sort of gangly, rumpled look I associate with Seth.

This is Raviv Ullman. There is a big push for him at the Twilight Moms website, who say that Tyler Posey is the producer's choice for the role of Seth. There is an online petition. I think he's a good looking kid. The only thing I've seen him in was an episode of Law & Order: SVU (he was the kid who raped the Britney-Spears-alike because the shock jock said it would be neat, but his mother was campaigning to take the shock jock off the air and shot him. Not that I watch that show obsessively.)

With the exception of Ullman, all of the above actors have at least partial Native American heritage. (Ullman is Israeli.)

It will be interesting to see what happens! If one of the above ends up getting the part, someone owes me a Coke.

  1. Thanks for the pictures. I think the second girl looks more like a Leah; pretty but angry. Both the boys look OK for Seth. I'm so out of touch with young actors, it's hard for me to think of any new suggestions.

  3. Exactly...all of the above actor/actresses are fine BUT...native americans would really prefer to SEE native americans/first nations people in these films. Kind of getting tired of seeing Qorianka pushed into the public eye as THE Leah...I mean...really? There are some really tough native people out there who can do justice to Leah and Seth's role. Look at nicole lee smith, first nations tribe, kyla leiloni bearheels, full blood Lakota, crystle lightning, first nations, kalen reyna, navajo, wambli eagleman, lakota. Some of these people were called up directly by the RHC to audition, so I'm guessing that they are looking for Native American/First Nations performers. It will be fantastic if they come up with newcomers!!!

  4. Persoanally i believe that Raviv Ullman is perfect for Seth!
Its come to the point where, and i dont know if anyone else is going to agree with me, but i am not watching Eclipse or Breaking Dawn if Raviv Ullmans not in it!

  7. Several years ago there was a big controversy on Broadway in New York because a Caucasian was set to play a major role that called for an Asian. But then several Asian actors spoke up and said "Hey, this is about acting! If we insist all Asian roles must be played only by Asians, then an Asian will never get an acting role unless the script specifically calls for an Asian." Therefore I see no problem with non-Indians playing Indians, as long as Indian actors are occasionally given roles that don't specifically call for Indians.
